After its official launch on August 23, Concord will be taken offline on September 6, just two weeks after its release, game director Ryan Ellis announced today via PlayStation.Blog. With the Concord game offline, it becomes the latest high-profile live-service game failure following very-low sales, with estimates of under 25,000 units sold, according to analysts (archive | screenshot).
“Concord fans — we’ve been listening closely to your feedback since the launch of Concord on PlayStation 5 and PC and want to thank everyone who has joined the journey aboard the Northstar,” says the post. “Your support and the passionate community that has grown around the game has meant the world to us.”
“However, while many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended. Therefore, at this time, we have decided to take the game offline beginning September 6, 2024, and explore options, including those that will better reach our players.”
People who purchased physical or digital copies of the game will get a refund. The game has been removed already from Steam (archive | screenshot) and Epic Games Store (archive)
On Steam, the game had an all-time peak of just 697 players (archive | screenshot).
Though Sony had success with Helldivers 2 (developed by Arrowhead Game Studios), it wasn’t able to replicate the same results with developer Firewalk Studios, which the company acquired last April (archive | screenshot).
