Nintendo will announce Switch successor within current fiscal year

Via X/Twitter, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated the company is set to reveal information about the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch within the current fiscal year. For gamers, this official announcement should be great news to hear.

“This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.”

The company will also make another Nintendo Direct in June about software the for second half of 2024. However, there won’t be any mention of the company’s next console during that presentation.

“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”

The company’s current fiscal year ends on March 31st, 2025.

This comes after earlier reports by Bloomberg [Archive | Screenshot] and other media about a delay for the release of the next console.
