Street Fighter Film & TV Rights Acquired by Legendary

Legendary Entertainment has exclusively licensed the live-action film and TV rights for the iconic Capcom video game franchise Street Fighter. All the projects under this license will be co-developed and produced in collaboration with Capcom, including the Street Fighter film that is currently in development.

Street Fighter, which was launched in 1987, has become one of the most recognizable and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time, with over 49 million units sold worldwide. Street Fighter 6, which is the next chapter in the franchise, is scheduled to release on June 2, 2023, and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, and PC via Steam.

As of late, video game adaptations have gained popularity, as evidenced by the success of Paramount’s Sonic films, Sony’s Uncharted, and HBO’s The Last of Us to varying degrees.
