Game developer Fntastic announced the delay of its post-apocalyptic zombie title The Day Before due to a trademark dispute.
The title developed by Fntastic and published by Mytona was supposed to make its debut in March 2023. However, the game developer said via Twitter that “Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual, because of the name The Day Before.”
Fntastic made the game announcement back in January 2021, back when the trademark was available. However, it seems like someone beat Fntastic in filing the trademark (archive | screenshot).
The game developer was about to publish a gameplay video. However, it will consult with lawyers before releasing the video
The company had no knowledge of the trademark until January 19, the day it received the complaint. Fntastic said it will postpone the game’s launch for a November 10, 2023 release date.
The game’s Steam page has been disabled and currently takes users to Steam’s homepage, but a January 24 archive can still be seen.
