Famitsu recently reported the Japan game console sales for the week of September 12-18, 2022.
During the week, Nintendo Switch consoles made up 83.4497828% of the total number of consoles sold (127,558 out of 152,856), which is about 16% less units sold than in the previous week when Splatoon 3 made its debut). The success of the Switch was followed by 9.2093212% of Xbox Series consoles (a total of 14,077 units) and 7.3140734% of PlayStation 5 consoles (a total of 11,180 units). It’s not that often that Sony comes in third place in console sales, however, because the company has raised the price of PS5 consoles in Japan since September 15, 2022, it seems like the price increase is affecting sales of units already.
