While Nintendo Switch Sports continues to reign the Japan game sale charts on the week of August 15-21, 2022, only one new game made the Top 30: Kirby’s Dream Buffet.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet, released worldwide via the Nintendo eShop, was developed by HAL Laboratory. It’s a multiplayer game in which four ball-shaped Kirby’s roll around food-themed courses in an effort to acquire the most strawberries. The digital-only game came in sixth place with 7,218 copies sold.
Nintendo celebrates the 30th anniversary of the character this year. Kirby was created by video game designer Masahiro Sakurai, known also as the creator of Super Smash Bros. The first Kirby game, Kirby’s Dream Land (aka 星のカービィ Hoshi no Kirby), made its debut on April 27, 1992, in Japan and on August 1, 1992, in North America.
