Game producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi announced recently he left Capcom in March 2022 to join NetEase Games. He announced the news on his 50th birthday via his personal Twitter account.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi (小林 裕幸) started working at Capcom in 1995 as a programmer for Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2.
Since 2000, he started working as a producer for various franchises such as Sengoku Basara (aka Devil Kings), Devil May Cry, Dino Crisis and Dragon’s Dogma.
He also worked on the anime adaptations of Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Sengoku Basara and Dragon’s Dogma as supervisor and producer.
According to his tweet, he left Capcom on March 31, 2022, to take on the role as a producer at NetEase Games.
“Today, August 12th, is my 50th birthday.
As such, I would like to share something very special with everyone:
After serving 27 years with gratitude, I have departed from Capcom on March 31, 2022, and will be officially joining NetEase Games as a producer.
Detailed plans will be shared later, so please stay tuned.
I will strive to continuously create more enjoyable entertainment experiences for everyone at this new company, in this new era.

Kobayashi is one of the top Japanese game producers who has joined NetEase Games. In January, Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi left Sega to join NetEase Games to launch Nagoshi Studio.
NetEase Games also acquired developer Grasshopper Manufacture in October 2021 (archive) and launched its first US studio Jackalope Games.
