Electronic Arts has decided to exclude all Russian teams from FIFA 23 in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, Eurogamer informed.
It’s the second time the Russian national soccer team and Russian soccer clubs will not be available in EA FIFA games in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.
“EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine,” the statement says. “In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports will not include the Russian national team or Russian clubs in FIFA 23.”
Since the Russian invasion, FIFA and EUFA have prohibited the presence of Russian teams in competitions, including the removal of the Russian soccer team from participating in the playoffs for the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
In March, EA removed Russia from FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile, FIFA Online and NHL 22. The company also removed Russian and Belarusian players and teams from FIFA 22 and Apex Legends tournaments.
