Via its website, game developer Sucker Punch stated it is not working on games for its franchises Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS.
Andrew Goldfarb, Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, shared the following tweet to put an end to the misleading rumors.
This rumor was mentioned by Twitter users @AccountNGT / @accngt back in March. It said both franchises were in development and that they were going to be revealed via Sony’s State of Play. Of course, there has been no mention of the return of both franchises in any State of Play so far.
Another person who contributed to this rumor was Nick Baker, host of The XboxEra Podcast. He said Sony would not make any announcements about Sly Cooper until the second half of 2022.
On its blog today, Sucker Punch Productions shared the following statement: “With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either. These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.”
The developer will continue with maintenance for inFAMOUS 2 UCG servers and will bring the Cole’s Legacy DLC for inFAMOUS Second Son to the PlayStation Store for fans around the world to download.
The Sly Cooper franchise turns 20 this year.
