While Nintendo Switch Sports continues leading the Japan game sale charts, three titles made their debut on the week of May 16-22, 2022, including Taiko Risshinde V DX, Snow Bros. Nick & Tom Special, and Death’s Gambit: Afterlife.
Taiko Risshiden V DX is the HD remaster of the original Taiko Risshnden V (太閤立志伝 V), a turn-based sandbox RPG game developed and published by Koei in 1992. In the game, players take on the role of various historical figures of the 16th century in Japan. The Switch version of the game made its debut in 2nd place.
Snow Bros. Nick & Tom Special is a revival of the arcade platformer originally released in 1990. It includes 30 new levels in addition to 50 recreated ones. It also brings back the Monster Challenge mode. For the ones who want a real challenge, there’s Survival Mode (the best score with a single life). A scoreboard, various screen modes are also available. The title is also available in North America. Players have the option to buy the package version (which comes with DLC) and a downloadable version (without the DLC). The title appeared on the Top 30 list in 9th place.
Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is the enhanced edition of Death’s Gambit originally released in 2018. The challenging RPG & Metroidvania-style title comes with new content such as 10 new levels and 5 new bosses, over 30 weapons and more. It made its debut in 19th place.
