Famitsu released the most recent data of Japan game console sales for the week of May 9-15, 2022. The surprise for the mentioned week is the number of Xbox Series S consoles sold that has surpassed the number of PlayStation 5 consoles sold. Though Sony has sold more PS5 consoles than Microsoft and its Xbox Series X|S ones in Japan, it seems like more Japanese gamers want to see that Xbox Series consoles have to offer.
Nintendo continued to maintain the lead during that week with 65,322 Switch consoles overall (and 235 New Nintendo 2DS LL units). In second place, Microsoft sold 6,225 Xbox Series consoles, leaving Sony in third with 2,693 PS5 consoles sold (and just 22 PS4 units).
