Ubisoft announced today its upcoming 3v3 competitive multiplayer sports game Roller Champions will make its debut on May 25.
The free-to-play game, developed by Ubisoft Montréal, is coming first to Windows (via the Ubisoft Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S thanks to backward compatibility. The sports game will also arrive to Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna and Epic Game Store “at a later date.” There will also be cross-play and cross-progression since Day 1.
In Roller Champions, two teams of three players compete “in a variation on classic roller derby.” In each match, the goal is to become the first team to score five points. To achieve that, a player has to skate and keep control of the ball. A player can pass the ball to another team member. A competing player may steal the ball. A full lap of the arena is required “to open up the goal and take your shot.”
