While fans of the blue blur are already expecting the arrival of Sonic Origins on June 23 onto their PC or consoles, Sega announced today it will delist the digital versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD on May 20.
These mentioned titles will disappear from various digital stores, however, there are a few exceptions. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 will continue to be available on SEGA AGES on Nintendo Switch. Also, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will continue to be playable for subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass.
Sonic Origins will make its debut via digital storefronts on June 23, 2022 as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration. This bundle of the first Sonic games coming in June will feature widescreen support alongside the original 4:3 aspect ratio of the games.
People who would like to purchase cheaper digital copies may want to do so before May 20 on Steam, Xbox Games Store, PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop. Now that Sega will delist Sonic the Hedgehog games, there won’t be a way to buy Sonic 3 and Knuckles & Sonic CD separately after the mentioned date of May 20.
Sonic fans should also be waiting for more news about Sonic Prime. Also, WildBrain Studios has been looking for CG artists (archive | screenshot) for work on Sonic Prime.
