This morning, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced it has agreed to acquire Haven Entertainment Studios, a team of 60+ employees led by Jade Raymond.
Raymond is the founder of Ubisoft Toronto and Motive Studios and one of the creative masterminds in the making of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. She was also in charge of the the internal Stadia Games and Entertainment development studio which was unexpectedly shut down. Raymond founded indie developer Haven Entertainment Studios in March 2021, “with an investment from SIE.”
“Haven Studios is currently working on its first project, a new live service experience for PlayStation built upon a systemic and evolving world focused on delivering freedom, thrill, and playfulness,” says the press release by SIE.
“Joining PlayStation Studios provides Haven with the creative freedom and unparalleled support to focus on building the highest quality games,” wrote Jade Raymond, CEO & Founder at Haven Studios, on PlayStation.Blog. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from all of the exceptional PlayStation Studios teams. We intend to fully embrace the incredible capabilities of the PS5 to create new worlds that inspire players and allow them to connect in new ways.”

Haven will become the 18th studio of the PlayStation Studios family. and the first Canadian-based team in developing “new AAA Modern Multiplayer Game for PlayStation.” Acquisition costs remained confidential.
