Riot Games announced today it has invested in French animation studio Fortiche Production. This announcement comes two days after the studio won nine awards at the Annnie Awards for the League of Legends spin-off animated series Arcane.
Riot Games now holds “a significant non-controlling stake in Fortiche.” Two Riot Games members have also been added to the board of directors at Fortiche: Brian Wright (Chief Content Officer at Riot) and Brendan Mulligan (Director of Corporate Development at Riot).
Fortiche and Riot Games have already worked together for almost a decade in the making of music videos, such as “Get Jinxed,” “Warriors,” “Enemy,” “Rise,” “Seconds,” and “Pop/Stars.” Both companies also worked on the animated series Arcane which scored a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and premiered on Netflix at #1.
“Fortiche has been an integral partner for a long time, but this agreement ensures we’ll be working closely for decades to come,” said Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent. “We hold a high bar for everyone we work with and insist they understand players deeply and focus on them relentlessly, and from day one, Fortiche has exemplified Player Experience First. In working with Fortiche, we collaborate to push the boundaries of what’s possible and raise expectations for how games can be represented in media. As proud as we are of Arcane, we know the best is yet to come.”
