The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced last night Tesla will disable the Tesla Passenger Play feature that allows its users to play games while cars are in motion.
This announcement comes after the NHTSA opened up a formal investigation into the Passenger Play feature of the Tesla Arcade app.
“Following the opening of a preliminary evaluation of Tesla’s ‘Passenger Play,’ Tesla informed the agency that it is changing the functionality of this feature,” the NHTSA said, according to CNN. “In a new software update, ‘Passenger Play’ will now be locked and unusable when the vehicle is in motion.”
The release of the 2021.12.25.6 update allows passengers to play games while a person drives a Tesla car. However, nothing prevents drivers from playing a game while driving.
Prior to the mentioned update, the only way to play games was when any Tesla car was parked.
