Today, Activision announced the acquisition of European mobile game developer Digital Legends.
The European developer has already worked with big companies such as Electronic Arts, Disney, Nokia, Adidas and others. Since late 2012 though, it has been working creating, developing and publishing its own mobile games such as Nutty Sam, The Respawnables, The Afterpulse – TV, Afterpulse, and Respawnable Heroes.
According to the press release, Digital Legends “will be supporting development of an unannounced new mobile title within the Call of Duty universe.” Currently, Activision Shanghai, Beenox and internal studio Solid State are working on the unnamed CoD title.
“Becoming part of the Activision family is an exciting time for us at Digital Legends,” said Xavier Carrillo-Costa, CEO and Founder at Digital Legends. “The addition of our team with years of expertise in high-quality mobile titles for mobile composed by industry veterans and emerging talent will only bolster Activision’s growing mobile talent pool. We’re very excited for the opportunity to work on one of the greatest franchises in the world.”
“Digital Legends’s tenure developing highly-polished mobile titles is unparalleled,” said Chris Plummer, Head of Mobile at Activision. “More importantly though, our teams already have been collaborating very closely for much of this year. We are building a world-class mobile development roster of talent and teams, and we look forward to what’s to come.”
This news comes hours after Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick asked for a deduction of his total compensation to $62,500 USD because of allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination at the company (archive).
