Today, 343 Industries announced the closure of Halo Xbox 360 game services will be on January 13, 2022.
This update comes after the developer revealed last year it would close the servers due to the lack of physical and digital sales.
Though the Halo Xbox 360 games can no longer be purchased online, it is still possible to purchase downloadable content.
The following Xbox 360 games will be affected:
- Halo: Reach
- Halo 4
- Halo 3
- Halo 3: ODST
- Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
- Spartan Assault
- Halo Wars
Gamers will have a few more weeks to play the mentioned titles since 343 Industries was planning to sunset services in December 2021.
According to 343 Industries, “features and experiences that require online services will be reduced or disabled.”
The affected online features are different for each title. Services marked with a red “x” will be affected. A checkmark means no change and will remain operational.
Among the services mostly affected: Matchmaking, File Share, Service Record, Challengers, Player Customization, MOTD (message of the day), and Extras. For Achievements, support will vary per game (Halo Reach, Halo 3, Halo 4).
Check out the chart below.
The versions of the games played on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows, will not be affected.
