Rockstar Games announced today the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
The announcement comes just before the 20th anniversary of the release of Grand Theft Auto III in the Untied States.
GTA3 became the first 3D game that offered the exploration of a huge metropolis along with an “unprecedented sense of freedom and immersion.” It also became a cultural phenomenon.
Along with Grand Theft Auto 3, the titles Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will also be included.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be available later this year for consoles and PC. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. The trio of titles will also be coming sometime during the first half of 2022 to iOS and Android.
This edition will include improved graphics and gameplay for all three games, “while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals.”
With the new additions of titles come the removal of the current versions in digital stores. Rockstar Games stated it will start “removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week.”
