Microsoft and Xbox are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 to recognize the contributions and representation of Latinx.
During the month-long event, Microsoft will be highlighting the work of Latinx in gaming, films, and TV.
One of the Xbox Game Studios franchises coming later this year to Xbox consoles and PC is Forza Horizon 5. Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft’s racing game developed by Playground Games, takes place in the “ever-evolving open world landscapes of Mexico.” Players will be able to virtually drive freely around Mexico and explore the beauty of country.
While fans wait for FH5 to arrive in November, Xbox is inviting fans to share their designs with #ForzaHHM for Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 4 based in Hispanic and Latinx heritage. Designers whose work get selected to appear in the mentioned games will receive in-game credit rewards. The deadline: Sept. 29 @ 11:59 pm PDT.
Another game to check out is Cris Tales, developed by Colombian studio Dream Uncorporated. It’s a game that takes players into a fantasy world where fans can see the past, present and future at the same time. It’s also a tribute to 2D games of yesteryears.
Also, fans can check out the turn-based strategy game Gears Tactics. Fans of the Gears franchise can play as soldier Gabriel Diaz (father of Gears 5 protagonist Kait Diaz).
Other games to mention are Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break (a tower defense game created by Chilean developer ACE Team), Retro Machina (Best Game from Brazil at the Independent Games Festival that “follows the adventures of a small robot looking to reclaim the past across a vast world”), and Forager (a 2D open-world adventure game in which players have to solve puzzles, craft buildings, and collect money to purchase lands).
To make it easier to find content, Microsoft shared a collection of full games presenting games made in Latin America, games with audio, interface, and subtitles translated in Spanish and Portuguese, protagonists, playable characters, and games inspired by Hispanic and Latino locations and culture. A collection of full movies and TV shows was also shared, featuring creators, movies with Spanish and Portuguese audio, leads, educational views, and family entertainment.
Microsoft also interviewed eight Xbox Ambassadors (Archive) who share their experiences about Hispanic/Latinx representation in games.
