The popular farming simulator game Stardew Valley has surpassed 15 million copies sold worldwide.
An update on the Press page for the game’s website mentions the new milestone. “Since release, the game has sold over 15 million copies worldwide.”
It’s another achievement for the game. It was in late January 2020 when game creator and developer Eric Barone announced the previous milestone of 10 million copies (Archive). This game was first released on PC on February 26, 2016 and reached its first million two months after its debut. It has also been released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in December 2016, Nintendo Switch in late 2017, iOS in October 2018, and Android in March 2019. Unfortunately, the Press page doesn’t say how many copies have been sold per gaming platform.
It is still unknown if the game will receive another update. Barone is currently working on a new game. In a Q&A session towards the end of the Stardew Valley Cup this past weekend, he said he may announce a new game soon. “I may announce it fairly soon, what it is – no-one knows at this point,” Barone said, according to EuroGamer (Archive). “What I will say is it’s another pixel art game, a top-down perspective similar to Stardew Valley. And in some ways it is kind of similar to Stardew Valley, but it’s not a farming game. It’s something different.”
