Yesterday, professional gamer Daigo Umehara announced via his Twitter accounts in Japanese and English that he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Umehara, he started experiencing high fever and fatigue on May 5. The next day, he was diagnosed with the coronavirus.
“I have been self-quarantining since the symptoms started, and am now resting at home while awaiting word from the health admin office for next steps.”
In an additional tweet, he apologizes to fans “for any concern” caused. “For now, I will be focusing my efforts on a quick recovery.”
Daigo is one of world’s best Street Fighter players. According to Guinness World Records, Umehara is “the most successful player in major tournaments of Street Fighter.”

6日、新型コロナウイルス陽性の結果を受けました。5日に高熱と倦怠感などの風邪の症状が出たため、翌日病院で検査をうけたものです。発症してからは外出せず、保健所からの連絡を待ちながら自宅療養を続けています。
