Pac-Man 99 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online tomorrow

Via Twitter, Nintendo announced Pac-Man 99 is the next battle royale game for Nintendo Switch Online members on April 7th.

In this brand-new Pac-Man game, only the last Pac-Man standing out of 99 will win.

The game comes with additions never seen in the first Pac-man title. There will be more opportunities than just grabbing a power pellet.

As one battles 98 other players, “any ghost you chomp will be sent to attack other players as Jammer Pac-Man.” However, a player can also get Jammer Pac-Man ghosts from other players which can slow down the Pac-Man one controls.

In addition, if one chomp the new sleeping ghosts, “they’ll multiply and form a ghost train.” With a power pellet, you can catch all the ghosts and their sleeping ghosts.

While playing, fans will have four power-up options to make use of for strategy. Among them: Standard, Stronger, Speed (doubles Pac-Man’s speed), and Train.

Also, four targeting options can make the game more exciting: Counter, Random, Hunter, and Knockout (“which targets opponents on the verge of losing the game”).

Finally, additional paid content in Pac-Man 99 will let users try features such as Private Match, CPU Battle, Score Attack, and others, as well as packs containing classic Namco themes and offline modes. For veteran players, it should be fun to play Pac-Man with new modes and a Galaga theme.

According to the Twitter post, the title will be available tomorrow April 7th at 6pm Pacific time / 9pm Eastern time.

With the arrival of Pac-Man 99, it’s also good-bye for Super Mario Bros. 35 which was first announced in September of last year alongside other Mario titles for Mario’s 35th anniversary celebration.
