Production for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film has begun today, according to director Jeff Fowler.
Fowler made the announcement tonight via social media, sharing a photo of the director’s chair featuring the film’s official logo.

This announcement comes weeks after the reveal of the film’s logo.

The tweet still leave fans with many questions yet unanswered.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will make its film debut on April 8, 2022. The first film is already available on Blu-Ray and DVD as well as via various streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Hulu and others.
While Fowler and company get to work on the film, Sega and WildBrain Studios will continue working on the Sonic Prime animated series coming to Netflix also in 2022.
