Today, Xbox announced FPS Boost for five well-known Xbox One Bethesda Softworks titles on Xbox Series X|S.
The feature, revealed last month, will let fans play certain Xbox One titles at a higher framerate.
Owners of Xbox One titles Dishonored: Definitive Edition, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Prey will be able to make use of FPS Boost starting today on Xbox Series X|S.
Xbox Game Pass members will also be able to take advantage of this feature that uses various “methods for nearly doubling the original framerate on select titles.”
Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire Editor in Chief, wrote in today’s post that Xbox partnered with developers to make this achievement possible.
“For the five titles we’ve shared today, gamers can expect to see an increase from 30 fps to nearly 60 fps while enabling FPS Boost,” says the post.
Some Bethesda titles will run at lower resolution to make up for the increase in framerates.
“In some instances, because there are higher graphics requirements to enable FPS Boost technology, we’ve had to reduce a game’s resolution to ensure it both runs smoothly and plays great. In those select cases, such as Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 in this latest title announcement, FPS Boost is not automatically enabled for Xbox Series X gamers. For all titles receiving this update, gamers will see a clear indicator if a title is running FPS Boost.”

Xbox will announce more titles that will receive FPS Boost in the coming weeks.
