V1 Interactive, game company founded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, is shutting down after five years.
The first message at @V1Interactive officially announces the upcoming closure of the studio.
“We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing. We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last 5 years wonderful. And a heartfelt thanks to the amazing community that supported us.”
The second message, written by V1 Interactive President Marcus Lehto, says the studio will help its employees look for new jobs elsewhere “while being supported by our studio.”
The studio’s only game, Disintegration, was launched in June 2020 for PS4, PC, Xbox One. It was an attempt at making an interesting game by combining elements of RTS and FPS games.
Because the game was unable to attract enough fans, the online servers for multiplayer modes in Disintegration were shut down in November 2020.
At V1, our priority has been to the wellbeing of our employees.
We’ve been transparent with them about the state of things for months and are making this decision now so they still have ample time to search for new jobs while being supported by our studio. https://t.co/XJbWDxazto
