According to The Verge, the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge has arrived to Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S via the latest Insider update.
Though the new Microsoft Edge gets more updates for PCs and smartphones, this is the first time the Chromium-based browser arrives to Insiders users on Xbox consoles.
The post says the new Microsoft Edge is missing full mouse and keyboard support and relies on the Xbox controller.
The availability of this browser comes at just two days before support for Microsoft Edge Legacy (based on EdgeHTML) comes to an end on March 9, 2021. A security update will remove Microsoft Edge Legacy in April.
The new Microsoft Edge was released in January 2020 for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and macOS. It is currently available for Alpha Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders.
With the addition of the new Microsoft Edge browser to Xbox consoles, players will be able to play Google Stadia titles.
Google Stadia will run on Xbox now thanks to this new version of Edge. It’s clearly an early build as things are a little buggy, but Chromium on Xbox will be very interesting https://t.co/eKueV7CNGS
