Epic Games has acquired Tonic Games Group, the parent company of game developer Mediatonic, creator of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.
The British company stated its main goal of bringing the popular title “to as many players as possible” will continue.
With Epic Games, Mediatonic will be able to accelerate improvements for the extremely fun game.
Fall Guys will continue with be available on PlayStation and Steam. What remains unknown is whether Fall Guys will remain available in the long run on Steam. Previously, Epic Games removed Rocket League from Steam after purchasing Psyonix and made it free-to-play. For now, Mediatonic says says it has “nothing to announce” about free-to-play.
“We’ve been mutual fans for a while and as we’ve gotten to know the Epic team better, it turns out we have a lot in common and share a lot of the same goals.”
Currently, Mediatonic is working on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of Fall Guys.
This comes 12 days after American video game company EA completed its purchase of British game developer Codemasters for USD$1.2 billion.
