Ubisoft delays launch of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake again

Via Twitter, Ubisoft announced the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is being delayed again.

“Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise,” said Ubisoft’s Dev Team via the game’s Twitter account. “It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible. With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.”

“We understand the update might come as a surprise and we will continue to keep you posted on the progress of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. In the meantime, we want to thank you all for your ongoing support.”

The game was first announced on September 10, 2020, for a January 21, 2021 release.

However, the dev team announced via Twitter on December 8 that it needed “additional time to work on the game” and delayed the release until March 18, 2021.

Today’s announcement doesn’t mention a specific date, leaving fans of the 2003 game somewhat disappointed.

For fans not familiar with Prince of Persia video games, the franchise was created by Jordan Mechner and first released on October 3, 1989 for Apple II, before being ported into various consoles and computers.
