Sonic Prime animated series is coming to Netflix in 2022

Netflix announced today the Sonic Prime animated series is coming in 2022.

According to Netflix, Sonic Prime is being produced by WildBrain Studios and Sega. Both companies will work together on the “production, distribution and licensing.”

Staff from Man of Action Entertainment (creator of Ben 10) will also join as showrunners and executive producers for Sonic Prime.

“The 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands,” says the press release.

“Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.”

With the unexpected success of the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film with a sequel in development, Sega should have more things planned this year as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. For now, the 3D animated series can introduce Sega’s mascot to a new generation of fans.
