Via its 2020 Year in Review stats, the Epic Games Store reached a total of 160 million PC users, an increase of 52 million users last year.
It’s one of the many improvements EGS has seen.
In 2020, EGS got the attention of gamers by giving away 103 PC games, with 749 million titles claimed.
According to EGS:
- Daily active users went up 192% to 31.3 million daily players (perhaps due to the pandemic).
- Monthly active users in December went up from 32 million in 2019 to 56 million in 2020.
- Over USD$700M were spent by PC gamers on EGS; $265M were third-party games.
- 5.70 billion hours played by EGS users, a 70% increase, compared to 3.35 billion hours in 2019.
- Number of games available by the end of 2020 went up to 471 titles, from 190 games in 2019.
- A huge increase of followers in Instagram (+137% to 5.5m), Twitter (+20% to 4.1m), and Facebook (+71% to 1.1m).
- Game creators from 235 countries and territories.
- Most popular titles: Assassin’s Creed Walhalla, Borderlands 3, Rocket League, Fortnite, Satisfactory, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Snow Runner, Grand Theft Auto V, Godfall, Rogue Company.
In 2021, EGS is planning to facilitate ways to open the store to more game developers.
