The Entertainment Software Association has suspended all its political contributions following the insurrection at the US Capitol.
“Given the events and actions that led to the violence at the U.S. Capitol, we are pausing contributions from the ESA PAC as we reflect on the tragedy and our path forward,” said the ESA via its official statement.
During the 2020 presidential election, the ESA PAC donated between $500 and $2500 to five Republicans who later voted to overturn the election results after the attack at the US Capitol. Those Republican representatives were: Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif), Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-Ga), Jay Obernolte (R-Calif), Jackie Walorski (R-Ind), Bill Johnson (R-Ohio).
In the 2016 presidential election, the ESA also supported Darrell Issa (R-Calif) and Steve Scalise (R-La). Both representatives also voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
