Epic Games has purchased the Cary Towne Center in North Carolina to turn it into its new company headquarters.
With the transfer of ownership from Denali Properties and Turnbridge Equities to Epic Games, the work on the 980,000 square-foot and 87-acre location will start sometime this year. The new location will include office buildings and recreational spaces.
The company has been a part of the Cary community for over 20 years. It is also looking for ways the community could use part of its new property.
The new headquarters is expected to be ready by 2024.
Denali Properties and Turnbridge Equities experienced problems even before the arrival of the pandemic. In January 2019, both companies bought Cary Towne Center “in a distressed sale following the loss of three of its five anchor tenants,” says the press release.
“We’re extremely proud that Epic has chosen to call Cary home for their new global headquarters, and we greatly appreciate the company’s recognition of Cary’s existing assets as well as the unlimited potential of the area for their growing business,” said Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht.
