Netflix anime viewing time has gone up over 100% in the United States in 2020, according to a statement by the company.
Via its Dec. 10 post, Netflix mentions the US viewing habits during this “tough year.”
When it comes to content from foreign countries, Netflix says K-drama has almost tripled while anime has gone up “over 100% in the US.”
Netflix also mentioned the two most-watched anime titles via its streaming service this year in the US are: “Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution” and “Blood Of Zeus.”
The mentioned Pokémon movie along with “Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods” were also the two most-watched anime in parts of Latin America (Peru, Chile, Argentina), while the Pokémon one stood alone as the most-watched anime in Malaysia, India and Singapore in 2020.
In other parts of Asia, The Philippines preferred “Weathering with You,” while Hong Kong and Indonesia selected “A Whisker Away.”
Meanwhile, most Netflix viewers in Japan watched “Japan Sinks: 2020,” in Taiwan “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” and in Thailand “Howl’s Moving Castle.”
