As fans get ready to watch the start of the upcoming basketball season, NBA teams Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz paid tribute to 8-bit and 16-bit gaming with the release of their schedules for the 2020-2021 season on YouTube.
The 8-bit and 16-bit console and arcade games referenced in the videos are easy to recognize for fans who have played Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Pole Position, Final Fight, Excitebike, Sonic the Hedgehog, Donkey Kong, Tetris, NBA Jam, Street Fighter 2 (note the similarity to the Zangief name), Super Mario Bros., Pokémon, and a racing game similar to Top Gear.
The Utah Jazz mascot may remind some fans of 7-Up’s Cool Spot mascot.
If 8-bit and 16-bit videogames were part of your life, you gotta watch’em both.
Turn up the volume on your PC or your phone.
