Though there are many people still disappointed for the lack of support for Oculus Go and Gear VR games on Oculus Quest 2, Facebook’s Oculus division is releasing new features in its latest v23 software update, including 90 Hz refresh rate for games as well as a fitness tracking app, among others.
The update won’t be available for everyone at the same time, so, certain owners won’t have it right away.
With the 90Hz refresh rate, every system software will run at 90Hz by default. Games will have to wait, though titles such as Superhot, and Job Simulator will be eventually playable at 90Hz.
Players who want to connect their device to their PC using Oculus Link will be able to pick form 72Hz, 80Hz, and 90Hz. If a PC is poweful graphic-wise, Quest 2 owners can take advantage of the graphic card automatically. Link has been available for Quest 1 owners since late last year.
Oculus Move, a fitness tracker app for Quest and Quest 2 devices, will help users find out the estimated amount of calories burned and the time a user has been active while playing. Players who enjoy Beat Saber will easily add up lots of minutes.
Two other fetures are coming in the latest update. With App Gifting, players will soon be able to buy any game or app for their family members and friends. Meanwhile, Casting will let fans cast from a VR headset to a browser (like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome) on a desktop PC. Towards the end of the month, the Oculus mobile app will let owners record gameplay while casting.
Will these new features attract more VR fans to Quest devices?
