Gears Pop! to say farewell in April 2021

Gears Pop!, a mobile game spin-off of the Gears of War franchise, will say farewell and shut down on April 26, 2021.

According to a post, the mobile real-time strategy game will no longer continue due to “a number of things that go into maintaining a game beyond keeping servers active. Addressing issues, developing content, and providing support are critical in keeping a game running. Unfortunately, this is no longer feasible.”

Though fans can no longer make any in-app purchases, they’ll receive refunds for purchases made between July 30 and October 28, 2020. Refunds could take a few weeks.

For now and until the due date, fans will see “some of our most popular events, increasing Bounty rewards, and upping the drop rates for Legendary Pins.”

The free-to-play game made its debut on iOS and Android on August 22, 2019. It was developed by Mediatonic, the British company that created the popular Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout video game.
