Minecraft is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Oct. 13

Game creator Masahiro Sakurai announced the Minecraft DLC fighters and additional Mii Fighters will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Oct. 13, 2020.

In the 45-minute video, Sakurai described the characteristics of the Minecraft characters, from their look to their fighting abilities.

The Minecraft characters will make use of a unique kind of move set. They will be able to dig into stages to obtain various materials to craft tools and to make blocks that can be used in many ways of fighting.

All Minecraft fighters will have the same fighting abilities, even if players pick either Steve, Alex, Zombie or Enderman.

One way they’ll fight differently: by holding down the attack button, Minecraft fighters can walk and swing a sword, axe or pickaxe at the same time. Be careful when fighting Steve and friends because they can send their opponents far away.

Steve’s Final Smash got an explosive name: House of Boom.

Though the main music from Minecraft is missing, according to Sakurai, the soundtracks coming to Smash are from other Minecraft titles such as Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons.

Three other Minecraft characters (Creeper, Pig, Diamond Armor) will be joining Gil (from The Tower of Druaga), Bomberman (from Bomberman), and Travis (from No More Heroes) as part of Mii Fighters #7 Costumes.
