Steve and friends from Minecraft are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Today, Masahiro Sakurai announced Steve and friends are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of Fighters Pack Vol. 2.

The Minecaft characters (Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman) will have their stage and seven music tracks fans should recognize.

While bringing the characters graphically into the game wasn’t much of a difficulty, the programming work was “a massive challenge.” In addition, the team of programmers had “to rework all our existing stages so that blocks can be placed in them.”

Much of the characters’ fighting abilities was not seen in this short presentation. However, Sakurai will show more of them on Oct. 3 at 10:30 am ET / 7:30 am PT, just before Minecraft Live.

The Minecraft DLC is second on the list of additional characters. Nintendo made Min Min from Splatoon 2 available via DLC in June.
