The Consumer Technology Association announced today the Consumer Electronics Show for next year, CES 2021, will be an “all-digital experience.” Even the world’s biggest consumer tech show is being affected by COVID-19.
“Amid the pandemic and growing global health concerns about the spread of COVID-19, it is not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January 2021 to meet and do business in person,” said CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro.
“Technology helps us all work, learn and connect during the pandemic – and that innovation will also help us reimagine CES 2021 and bring together the tech community in a meaningful way. By shifting to an all-digital platform for 2021, we can deliver a unique experience that helps our exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences.”
While fans of CES unable to attend previous conferences have had the opportunity to see broadcasts of events by different companies from the comfort of their own phones and PCs, the 2021 edition of CES will be unlike any other done before by going completely online for the very first time.
According to the CTA, CES 2021 will have keynotes and conferences, meetings and networking, in addition to product showcases.
“We plan to return to Las Vegas for CES 2022, combining the best elements of a physical and digital show.”
