Nintendo has finally apologized for the “Joy-Con drift” problems many gamers have experienced when playing games with the Switch.
For people who are not familiar with what the “Joy-Con drift” is, the issue arises when the console or game thinks that the Joy-Con is used to move a character or to select a choice, but the controller remains untouched.
The apology appeared today in Nintendo’s most recent financial Q&A published in Japanese. It was part of a response by Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa to question 6 which talks about the class-action lawsuit in the US about the Joy-Con malfunction filed by US law firm Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith.
“Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers,” said Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, according to a translation on Kotaku. “We are continuing to aim to improve our products, but as the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in the United States and this is still a pending issue, we would like to refrain from responding about any specific actions.”
