Ubisoft Entertainment SA has sued Apple and Google for the availability of an alleged Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege ripoff.
The video game in question, titled Area F2, was made by Alibaba subsidiary Ejoy.com and Qookka Games.
The mobile game Area F2, according to Ubisoft, is a “near carbon copy” of Rainbow Six: Siege.
The French game developer says R6S is a very valuable intellectual property and it has filed a complaint in a federal court in Los Angeles this past Friday.
“Virtually every aspect of AF2 is copied from R6S, from the operator selection screen to the final scoring screen, and everything in between,” said Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has informed both companies that “that Area F2 is infringing its copyrights.” However, Apple and Google have refused to remove the mobile game from their digital stores.
Area F2 has been available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store since last month.
