Yesterday via Facebook, Funimation announced its partnership with anime studio Sunrise, musicians and voice actors for a special performance of Cowboy Bebop’s The Real Folk Blues.
Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts joined J-pop singer Shihori, vocalists Úyanga Bold and Raj Ramayya, rappers (Substantial, MegaRan, Red Rapper AKA Zaid Tabani), voice overs (Beau Billingslea, Steve Blum) and many others to bring this edition of the song to life. Music director Mason Lieberman arranged the track, and composer Masahiro Aoki gets credit for the mix. Mai Yamane, original singer of this song, also joined.
The purpose: “ALL PROCEEDS from this track will be donated to the CDC Foundation and Doctors without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) in support of the fight against COVID-19.”
Fans can contribute by purchasing the song at $1 or more on Bandcamp now or in a few days at Google Play, or get the vinyl at Qrates.
