The Japan Retro Game Association announced via its web site it will give away 100 Super Famicom consoles to children to enjoy while at home due to the coronavirus, days after the Japanese government declared a nationwide state of emergency.
Each Super Famicom console (aka Super Nintendo outside of Japan) will also come with an adapter, cable, controller and two games (Super Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy VI). In order to qualify, each participating family should not already own a Super Famicom, pay shipping costs, and children must be under the age of 16.
The deadline for applications is on April 26 at 11:59 pm (Japan time). The winners will be notified via email starting on April 27 and will receive a Super Famicom in about a week.
People at the association have cleaned and disinfected all 100 consoles as much as possible.
This can be a great opportunity to kick the boredom out and have families, specially the parents, relive their childhood games.
