Apple announced today the arrival of the 2nd-gen iPhone SE, an affordable iPhone starting at $399 with 64GB version.
While the device is modern on the inside, featuring an A13 Bionic chip (as in iPhone 11 models), it has kept the look and feel of an iPhone 8.
Among the things that are newer in this model compared to the original are the camera features like the single 12-megapixel camera lens, monocular depth sensing in portrait mode (to detect depth and faces), cinematic stabilization, optical image stabilization, next-gen Smart HDR photography, rear camera at 4K up to 60fps, QuickTake (which allows video recording without leaving Photo mode, up to 50 percent of battery charge in 30 minutes with Qi wireless chargers, support for Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit-class LTE, able to run the latest AR apps, and more.
As for familiar details, the 4.7-inch Retina HD display has remained the same, the Home button with Touch ID (which was removed from iPhone 11 models).
The iPhone SE 2 will be available in black, white and (PRODUCT) Red with pre-orders starting April 17.
“The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way — including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos — while still being very affordable,” said Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple.
Along with the iPhone SE 2, Apple also announced the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, $299 for the 11-inch version and $349 for the 12.9-inch version. Interested Apple users can now order the peripheral on apple.com and can start receiving the keyboard next week. It is designed to work with the latest iPad Pro and it is compatible with previous models.
