Via YouTube and the game’s website, game director Scott Lane announced Amazon’s upcoming MMO game New World will be delayed until August 25 due to coronavirus restrictions.
Along with the new release date, the start of the Closed Beta has also been pushed to July.
The transition to working from home for the entire team has caused new challenges.
“We want to make sure that we have the time needed to make New World the very best it can be for our players. As a result, we’ve chosen to delay the game’s release in order to reach our quality bar as we work remotely for the foreseeable future.”
Of course, the health of safety of the people that make Amazon Games is the company’s top priority.
“We know you are eagerly anticipating the launch of New World, and we’re excited to share it with you. However, the health and safety of our team is our first priority. We hope you understand our decision to protect our team during these uncertain times while we re-focus on a timeline that will ensure New World is the best possible game it can be.”
Amazon Games will keep gamers informed via its web site and social media accounts while letting fans continue testing the currently-opened alpha. Just remember, the current alpha progress won’t be carried into the beta one, nor the beta one into the final and official release version.
