In an article published on Xbox News, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, revealed more features gamers will experience with the Xbox Series X from Microsoft later this year.
The power of Microsoft’s upcoming console will feature a custom-designed processor making use of AMD’s Zen 2 and RDNA 2 architectures, 12 teraflops of GPU, its own Variable Rate Shading (VRS, for “more stable frame rates and higher resolution”), and hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing (which traces the path of light as pixels and simulates the effects of its encounters with virtual objects).
Some new features will also make the console go to the next level in terms of more gaming and less waiting. Among those: SSD Storage (for faster loading), Quick Resume (which will let you resume more than one game from a suspended state), Dynamic Latency Input (aka DLI, will sync “input immediately with what is displayed, controls are even more precise and responsive”), HDMI 2.1 Innovation, and 120 fps support.
With Smart Delivery, users will be able to play the best version of a game whether they play on Xbox One or Xbox Series X after purchasing a game once. In other words, no need to buy a copy of a game for Xbox One and another for Xbox Series X. It will basically be up to the publishers and developers to decide.
For Microsoft, “Power + speed + compatibility = Xbox Series X.”
