After achieving its unbelievable feat last week with great reviews from movie-watchers, Sonic continues at #1 at the box office with an estimated $26.3 million in its second week in the US.
According to Box Office Mojo, Sonic the Hedgehog earned $106 million during its first ten days of release and has become the “fourth largest video game adaptation” of all-time in the United States, currently behind The Angry Birds Movie at $107.5 million.
The Call of the Wild is in a close second place with an estimated $24.8 million in its debut week in the US, plus an estimated $15.4 million in 40 markets overseas.
With an additional $38.3 million in movie tickets overseas this weekend, Sonic the Hedgehog has now earned more than US$200 million worldwide. Now the question is if Sonic will be able to catch up to Warcraft or Detective Pikachu.
