According to Sony, PlayStation UK will shut down the SingStar servers in January 2020.
The latest update on a game servers page on PlayStation.com shows a list of decommissioned servers. The first one in the list is SingStar.
“As of 31st January, 2020, 23.59GMT, the SingStar servers will be shut down. All online functionality, network features, and digital music downloads will be immediately disabled,” says the post. “You will still be able to play and enjoy these games in offline mode.”
After that date, players won’t be able to do the following:
- Purchasing or downloading new songs will not be possible or available
- You will not be able to view, upload or interact with any online user generated content (UGC)
- You will not be able to share recorded media at the end of a performance on any of the available public sharing platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, PSN or SingStar community)
- You will not be able to track and record high scores online
- You will not be able to complete online challenges
Also, players won’t be able to unlock four trophies.
For owners of Driveclub, the online services will be will shut down on March 31, 2020. This includes online features such as online multiplayer modes.
Sony says the following features won’t be available:
- Use your season pass online.
- Represent your Club online in multiplayer events or tours.
- Play online multiplayer and compete in challenges.
- Create your own events.
- Compete in leader boards, or share stats and player progress.
Single player and offline modes as well as downloadable content in offline mode will still work.
