As seen on PlayStation.Blog Japan, The PlayStation Awards 2019 will take place on December 3rd at 5pm at the New Takanawa Grand Prince Hotel.
Though the event won’t be available for the general public, the live-stream of the awards ceremony will be available via the official PlayStation Japan YouTube channel.
Sony’s event has been held every year since the release of the first PlayStation console in 1994. This means this year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the Sony PlayStation.
Every year, Sony recognizes the best titles on terms of copies of games sold.
There are six main categories for the games sold in Japan and Asia regions.
Among the categories:
- Platinum Prize: Games with total shipment amount of physical copies in addition to digital downloads that exceed 1 million.
- Gold Prize: Games with total shipment amount of physical copies in addition to digital downloads that exceed 500,000.
- PlayStation Network Award: Given to the top three PSN games sold from October 1st, 2018 to September 30th, 2019.
- PlayStation 25th Anniversary Users’ Choice Award: For the top five games voted by users from all the previous winning titles in the last 24 years in Japan and Asia regions.
